Residenza Allegria
Sunsets and Solitude
Residenza Allegria draws on its environment and the hive of Carlton’s activity and neighbouring suburbs. It is the epitome of contemporary living; an apartment designed for temporary habitation, a stay and play mentality perhaps, but with room to live and stretch one’s legs. Providing generous natural light the day through, and from the balcony and the higher floors, sunsets over Carlton take on wistful and contemplative meanings.
When Scarpa designed his masterpieces, he sought spareness and balance, an absence of the unnecessary, while avoiding the minimal or bland. With a feeling of defiance and steadfastness, La Storia rises from the ground. Small, subversive details prevail – taking in the Scarpa aesthetic – filtering light with natural reflections, bathing the residences in various organic tones that glow and change depending on the time of the day. The design language of La Storia continues in the northern corner. Here Residenza Allegria asks that it be a part of something bigger and in doing so, strong bonds are forged, and intimate relationships are established.
