Taking its lead from the Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa, La Storia bursts with lightness, spareness and balance. Technically part of the modernist movement, Scarpa’s style was subtle and subversive; instead of shunning the past, he honoured it, transforming buildings with stunning simplicity.
